Charlotte Street, Brisbane

Presented with a difficult site in a location ripe for childcare, Jeckra took a different approach to meeting regulations and maximising occupancy at Charlotte Street.

Threatening the viability of the project, the site’s minimal external play space meant Jeckra had to look inwardly to provide the required amount of outdoor play space for children.

This was achieved by implementing a number of simulated external environments inside the tenancy and made possible through a carefully considered material and planting palette.

The results speak for themselves as the centre is warm, bright and inviting, and has enjoyed a high-occupancy rate since its opening.
